Tips - Spreading Your Site
There are many ways you can spread your public URL to people.
Below are some tips that have proven to be very easy and effective for our members.
#1 Related Websites
Have your URL added as a link on other websites related to your organization. For example, do you run a school-based program? Have a link added to the school website. Getting a link added to another website is easy. Simply email someone from the related organization and say something like this, "Hey. We have a new website. Please add our link to your site. Here's our link: www.stadiumroar.com/sitename". People from these organizations will likely be very happy to add your link.
#2 Email
Email your URL to all of the participants and managers of your organization. If you run a large organization, and do not have everyone's email address handy, then email key people in your organization (regional directors, etc) and they can take care of spreading it down to people below them. Also, feel free to email your URL to people who have the "connections" to help spread it. For example, if you run a community program, you should email your local recreation director, who will likely be able to spread your URL to potential participants.
#3 Social Networks
Have a link to your site added to any social networks your organization uses, such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Even if your organization doesn't have official social-media group pages, feel free to take advantage of your personal page. For instance, post your URL on your Facebook Timeline, or send it out in a message to your friends.
#4 Documents
Have your link added to the bottom of printed documents you use in your organization (flyers, forms, brochures, etc). At the bottom of the document, say something like this, "For more information, visit our website at www.stadiumroar.com/sitename". In addition, have your link added to virtual documents as well, such as PDF's.
#5 Discussion Forums
Do you participate in the Forums/Comments section on any websites related to your organization? If so, you should definitely post links to your site when you make posts. Try to focus on popular sites that get a lot of traffic. For instance, if you run a personal-training program, visit some fitness sites. If you see a thread taking place about personal-training advice, post a comment about yourself and include a link to your site.
#6 Directories
The web is filled with all kinds of directories aimed at helping spread programs to people in search of them. Most of these directories let you post a listing for your program at no cost. To find directories, go to a search engine like Google and search for "directory your program type". For instance, "directory hockey tournaments". Visit the various directory sites that come up and look for links about submitting a listing; be sure to include your URL in your entry.
#7 Signature
When you send emails from your email account (gmail, aol, etc) you can attach a sign-off signature to the bottom of all outgoing messages. You can add your link as part of your email signature. For example:
Sincerely,
John Doe
Director
ABC Organization
